One can see online movies, play games, talk to their friends & relatives, listen to music, refer to online learning materials or can educate themselves by doing online studies.

In fact, the Internet has opened the doors of the outside world. It has made our life easier in many ways. It proves to be the best tool for your child to gain knowledge and be creative.

But its misuse can also become a threat to your online and Personal life.

Parents should be aware of what their children see and hear online. Or whom they meet, to whom they talk to and also what information they share about themselves. Talk to them in a friendly way or use tools to protect them and keep an eye on their activities, if needed.

These few actionable tips that we tell you, will increase safety while your kids’ surf on the internet.

1. Never share Personal Information

Teach them to never reveal their personal information to anyone especially to the strangers. This means that they should not share their last name, residential address, phone number or any other without parents’ permission.

2. Monitor their Online Activities

Parents should be aware of what their children are surfing on the Internet. As being active and responsible, they should keep a vigilant eye on them. You can also use online parental control software to look after what they are doing online.

For security purpose, you can also secure your home wireless network for keeping eyes on children.

3. Listen to them

Become friends to them! Share your good or bad personal experiences with them so that they may not hide anything from you. Suggest good use of social media. Pretend like you don’t know much about Internet things and start talking to them.

This can be the easiest way of knowing about what all they are doing online or what is in their innocent minds.

4. Install an Antivirus on all Devices

Children are curious and are easily attracted to new things. May it be a new game, software or any other app, they access to malicious websites and links from untrusted companies. Children can download video games or high-quality games from unknown locations.

To protect their computer from antivirus or virus, you should install a good antivirus solution on your kids’ system from a reliable company.

5. Set Time Limit for Internet Usage

Limit the use of the Internet. Remember, you are responsible parents and you should be concerned about how much time your child is spending online. If he/she is staying up all night long surfing or chatting, then it’s time to set usage limitations to this activity. Tell them the time that they can spend on their laptop, mobile or computer.

6. Educate them about Cyber Security and Online Threats

Kids should learn the tactics of the internet but be also aware of its threats. So, how do you keep your children safe from these threats which come to them online?

When it comes about cybersecurity, education plays an important role in the process of learning. Teach your child how to be safe from the online scams and stay away from illegal things.
