On 2nd October 2024, a Cross Country run was organized by The Asian School to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The event aimed to celebrate the values of health, fitness, unity, and perseverance, which both leaders embodied throughout their lives.
The event commenced early in the morning at the school with the participation of enthusiastic students, teachers, and staff. After the ceremonial tribute to the great leaders, the participants gathered at the starting point, eager to embark on the run.
The run was flagged off by the Principal of The Asian School, Mrs. Ruchi Pradhan Dutta. The course of the race, took the runners through a well-marked route according to the landmarks, giving participants an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and nature, aligning with Gandhi’s vision of simplicity and harmony with the environment. The event was adequately supported by the city administration and police authority. Teachers and volunteers were stationed along the route to guide the runners and provide water and medical assistance when required.
The participants showed immense energy and determination, and the top performers were cheered on by onlookers and fellow participants as they reached the finish line. A highly motivating story was also narrated through the columns of ‘Dainik Jagran’.
The event concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners and participants. The Principal expressed heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their effort and encouraged everyone to continue following the path of fitness and discipline in daily life, taking inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of self-discipline and Shastri’s dedication to national service.
